Ribbon-Cutting & Building Dedication

On May 23, 2019, Art Trek marked one of the most significant events in our history with a Ribbon Cutting Celebration. In December, the owners of our building, Cate and Eddy Hartenstein, donated the property to Art Trek. This gift ensures Art Trek’s sustainable future. Cate and Eddy have been our champions since the start of our program.

We were able to share this joyful occasion with over 70 of our Art Trek friends, Board members, public officials, youth leaders, chamber of commerce ambassadors, and Art Trek staff team members. In addition to the gift of the studio, Cate and Eddy extended their generosity even more by establishing two scholarships to be awarded to students dedicated to pursuing an education in the arts.

The Allison Renee Young Scholarship, designated for an art student with special needs, went to a budding young fashion designer, Melody Hellard. The second scholarship is for a student who is the first in his or her family to attend College. This year, the First-Generation, Higher Education Scholarship went to Anthony Huynh.

Art Trek has always been a place of creative expression and acceptance for all. Owning our property advances our mission of bringing quality art to the classroom and the community. As we enjoyed an afternoon of festivities with so many people, we closely held the memories every supporter who helped make the dream of a community art studio the reality it is today.

40 Under Forty Honoree: Cordelia Miller

β€œThank you to the Greater Conejo Valley Chamber of Commerce for this amazing award and recognition for the work that I do for Art Trek. And thank you to Henry Stern and the wonderful people at Wells Fargo for presenting the awards!

I love working for an organization that cares so much for their staff, students, volunteers, and community. My main task at the organization is to post to social media and advertise upcoming events but I do so much more than that.

I come in everyday ready for new, fun, and exciting challenges! Today I got into work and started going through emails and posting art and events on social media. By 9am I was on my way out of the studio to go help out at a local elementary school to create colorful tiles for a collaborative mural with 5th graders to be put up at the end of this school year. It is great to get of my element and interact with students and staff and create something so special as they leave elementary school behind to start their journey into middle school.

It is a great feeling to wake up each morning and know that you are doing good work for the better of your community and future generations of the Conejo Valley. Everyday is a memorable experience at Art Trek!”
