2022 Update
At this time we are not taking volunteers for this event. Thank you for your interest.
Thank you to the City of Thousand Oaks for making this night possible!
Started in late 2011, our community-building art event series has been a smashing success. On the third Friday of each month we open the studio to art projects built around changing themes.
Each month offers at least five art stations of differing materials, drawing, painting, sculpting, origami, fabric and wire sculpture—to name a few. Participants spend the evening at the stations of their choice. They can participate in one or all of the projects. At the end of the evening everyone has a bountiful stash of finished work to carry home to keep them inspired.
Our staff loves this event because it fills the studio with creativity, music and the opportunity to meet new artists of all ages. Sometimes dancing breaks out in our wide open drama space! You will be amazed at the age range of this event. Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult—and believe us, you will want to join your children for the fun. Teens are joining in the creativity and returning the following month with friends! These evenings provide a wonderful and affordable family event. Snacks are always $1 and lemonade is free!
On May 19th, 2023, $5 Friday made a triumphant return, after the pandemic put our in-person community art nights on pause. Join us every third Friday of each month (excluding December), and experience a wonderful night of community, creative expression, and celebration!
